I also love seeing people get excited about their faith. My family includes a husband and two sons. We’re involved in Cross Country, Band and Swim Team. When not at church, you can usually find us at these school and community events.”
The Rev. Dr. Beth Warpmaeker is the daughter of two Lutheran pastors from Texas, Rodney and Nancy Maeker. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology and International Studies from Texas Lutheran University in 1992. She continues to support Texas Lutheran University by serving on the Board of Regents.
In 1997, Beth received both a Master of Arts Degree in Islamic Studies and a Master of Divinity Degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her seminary internship was spent in the Middle East at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem and at Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. Beth has led seven group trips to the Holy Land and she continues to support the ministries of Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem through Bright Stars of Bethlehem.
Beth and her husband, Mark (also a pastor) moved to Houston in 1998. She was ordained and her first call was as Associate Pastor and Campus Minister at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas, from 1999 to 2003. Beth was then called to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis in 2005 where she served as Pastor of Congregational Life and Outreach until July 2014. After 10 years in Minnesota, they returned to Houston once again. Beth began her call at Kinsmen Lutheran in September 2014. In May 2017 she completed her Doctor of Ministry degree at Luther Seminary, which focused on Congregational Mission and Leadership. During this program she became a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory.
Beth is married to The Rev. Mark Warpmaeker who is the Executive Director of Alpha Houston. They have two sons and one dog–Stanley.

Here at Kinsmen I get to work with youth and their families and connect people of all ages to groups where they can experience life together. I’m also a father of one daughter, husband to Sheri, walker of Rockie. In my spare time, I like to run and laugh a lot.”
Pastor Mark England serves as the Pastor of Youth, Family, and Groups and has served this congregation since 2008. Previously, he served as the Associate Pastor at Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmond, Virginia from 1999-2008. He is a graduate of Baylor University (Bachelor of Science, Education) and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (Master of Divinity). He has also received Mediation Skills Training from the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center, received training as a Life and Leadership Coach from CoachNet and has been trained as a Healthy Congregations Facilitator.
Sara Ray (contact)
“I am passionate about helping parents and families fulfill the baptismal promises they make to children and families. At Kinsmen I enjoy celebrating milestones with families with young children and connecting the families from Kinsmen Children’s Academy with the people and gifts of Kinsmen Lutheran Church.”
Sara Ray serves as the Director of Children’s Ministry and Outreach and has served at Kinsmen since 2011. Previously she served as the Program Director at Lutherhill Ministries in La Grange, Texas. Sara was raised in Colorado and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned her two degrees in Architectural Engineering and Music. Just how did she end up in Texas working for a camp in 2007? Sara would love to tell you more about the adventures of being a follower of Jesus when you see her in person!
Sara enjoys running, photography, and just hanging out with her husband and young daughter.
Rudy Flores (contact)
“I am looking forward to this next part of my faith journey here at Kinsmen. I know that there will be challenges to come and welcome the opportunity to grow with and learn from this community of faith. Music is a big part of my life and while at my home congregation, Covenant Lutheran Church, I played guitar and sang in our worship band. I am excited to begin my work here at Kinsmen as the Kinsmen Children’s Academy Assistant Director for Before and After Care.”
Rudy Flores received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Arts from Texas Lutheran College in the Fall of 1991. Rudy is a first-year seminarian at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa and is pursuing a Master of Divinity in Word and Sacrament.
Rudy comes to Kinsmen after 25 years in the printing industry. He has worked at local print shops, including Gulf Printing and Classic Printers. He has also worked in the corporate environment at The Pennzoil-Quaker State Company, and most recently at Stage Stores, Inc.
Rudy is married to Carol, who works in the non-profit disaster response community. They are the parents of three children: Laura, a senior at Cypress Lakes High School; Sarah, a senior at Texas Lutheran University; and Chris, a recent graduate of Youngstown State University.
